Crushing California death metal splitting the pocket, overdosing on alcohol fueled thrash. Classic in every sense of the word, Unsanctified are the epitome of death, using ferocious blast beats interwoven with tempo changing grindcore led by Frank Herrera's devastating drums. These fuckers are tight as hell, the duo of Carreon and Faber might in name evoke a fraternity, but in music they call on the hot line straight to hell with two of the most synched rhythmic leads I've heard, period. The title track says it all, there's at least half a dozen changes, wailing lead over grinding thrash, lyrics straight from the apocalypse, and pure mayhem all around. It it's pure fucking grind you want "Your Void" is your overdose. The ending sounds like some of the killer shit the greats used to pull in the day. 100% dark grindcore underground metal, with true back metal thrown around in places. The CD is for putting on and getting pure fucking evil. Standouts include the rawness of Misery's first four cuts on disc two. They are a band that people usually like the more they listen, because at first it's like so much other minimalist metal, but believe me, this grows on ya. Majority of the pure brutal shit is on disc one (this package contains excellent multimedia and other fan based additives like bios and pictures of the bands), like british black metal gods Detrimentum whos offering "The First Three Circles Of Hell" could not be more torn up. It blasts through like death on parade. Godless give their usual fire breathing performances on their three song contribution, and rarely have I heard them better. Ulcerate are totally thrashed, sounding like a drunken demon orgy. India's MyndSnare provide some of the most enjoyable metal as disc one closes out. Their three songs are strong reminds of metal's past glories from the heydays of the early 80's first speed metal masters, but their blast beat mastery is a sub-genre of its own. From a metal stand point, this double CD set sampler is required, for those times when it absolutely must be fast, dark and deadly. Excellent musicianship and when they click in a groove like on "I Fit My Surroundings, you see the potential in the metal arena. At other times, such as closer "My Philosophy", they mix so much, it's kinda hard to get a grip. Good e.p. though, danecore defined on the heavy side. Australia's finest industrial metal. It's got a deep grindcore with progressive riffing which could be King Crimson if they were this heavy. This is in no small part because of guitarists Vincent Zylstra and Reza Nasseri, both with excellent chops and timing. The music is interesting for the styles of hard rock it incorporates, and here 'n' there is a definite far east flavor too, like some of the brutal stuff that always seems to come out of Thailand. 13 songs of meal the old school way; powerchords, machine gun riffs, lots of lead guitarand some blast beat thrash to round things out. Irecore definitely owe to the bands ofyore, and just to casually listen, this could be something on Metal Blade about 1982. Spotlights include the epic multi part "Admonish" and the neo-classical prelude in"M.OM." which also kicks afterwards with it's monster riff and nod to Seattle grungemetal. It's best when the band ramps up the tempos and slams home the micro-breaks (see"Congress"), or just ride the riff from hell ("Mold"). I'd have to go with "Society" sofar as single of the year. Leave it up to Carnal Records out of Sweden to send in some brutal shit just in time for publication. Generally, what this veteran metal label does is pick up a better quality of black and death metal. They continue that trend with this Shaarimoth. Starting with a prayer to the ancient ones, the entire albums grinds through 9 full songs of black terror. The ripping chainsaw guitars of "218" at once evoke legions of spells long forgotten, and fulfill the apocalyptic phrphecy. This is what the songs of hell sound like. More anceint ritres continue with the "Incantation Of Huber", feeling the spirits come. They get back to major thrash woth "Flood The Cosmic Gates" as they bring home themes of human slaughter. Shaarrimoth lay down and stomping devil march on "It Came From The Desert", which also has a number of power metal parts throughout the song. There's nothing on this disc that shrinks back! Listen to the metal mastery of "come, Mother Come!" It's a call the the Dragon Mother! Hail! Another thing I like, is there is a lyric sheet with the disc, because with most black and death metal, without one you'd never know! This one needs to go into the collection in '06!
